WILDFIRE PREVENTION STUDENT VIDEO PROJECTS: A PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SERIES

Two years after the CZU Fire, the Santa Cruz COE has joined forces with California State Parks, Community Television of Santa Cruz and Next Vista for Learning to offer a unique opportunity to second through twelfth grade Santa Cruz County educators and students.

Through a series of three sessions, educators will get hands-on experience using digital storytelling as a tool for developing content mastery around the topic of wildfire prevention.  They will then have the opportunity to check out up to 5 Padcaster kits for use in their classroom.

The three teacher workshops will be held in person from August to November 2022.  During the first meeting, teachers will convene at Fall Creek State Park to get a first hand look at the burn scars left by the CZU fire.

This professional learning series builds on the success of our Spring 2022 Student Video Made Simple Pilot, which trained 10 educators from 5 Santa Cruz County districts in using video equipment in the classroom.

We encourage any interested educators to join us for this FREE opportunity to bring high quality video equipment to their classroom!
