The Santa Cruz County Office of Education was proud to host the 23rd annual Santa Cruz County Black Grad Celebration in partnership with NAACP Santa Cruz County, the Countywide Black Student Union, and the Santa Cruz High School Black Student union. This pre-commencement ceremony honors Black students who are graduating from a Santa Cruz County high school.
Twenty students participated in this ceremony.
Speakers include Santa Cruz City Councilmember Dr. Justin Cummings, Rashonda Rhodes of the Santa Cruz High School Class of 2020, Danay Weldegabriel of the Countywide Black Student Union, and Santa Cruz County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Faris Sabbah.
Performances include drumming from Mbor Faye and friends; student dancers Catherine Easter, Naia Neal, and TahJiana Lundy; student singer Naima Easter; and a student fashion show put on by I.B. Bayo.
