Family Math Night: Rediscovering the Joy of Math for Ourselves and our Students
Mathematics is innately human when we let it be – and when we make it so. During this Family Math Night we will learn with James Tanton, founder of the Global Math Project, to:
- Rediscover and cultivate wonder and joy in math
- Support students to be the heroes in their learning
- Nurture discussion around math problems
- Focus on thinking
- Foster belief in student success
- Have fun!
We will learn a fun, visual approach that allows every learner (and their family members!) to truly grasp, understand, and enjoy the core of arithmetic and the foundations of algebra.
Remove fear, inspire confidence, and break down mathematical silos so that students can see the magic, connect the dots, and fall in love with math!
Audience: Families are encouraged to attend with their students. This Family Math Night is especially recommended for families of students grade-levels 5-8. However, family members of all grades levels will walk away with new ideas, and are welcome!
Pizza will be served immediately following the event!
