Dear community member,
On Monday, President Biden signed legislation immediately ending the national COVID-19 emergency, and the national public health emergency is set to end on May 11.
The winding down of these emergencies carries with it several important changes, including impacts to insurance reimbursement for COVID-19 tests. In light of these changes and the continued low rates of COVID-19 transmission here in Santa Cruz County, several of the School Community Testing sites operated by Inspire Diagnostics are closing at the end of the day today, April 14. The free School Community Testing at the COE, PVUSD District office, and SLVUSD will be ending after today. We understand that Inspire will continue testing at Cabrillo College and may continue or expand to other sites.
Families can continue to receive free antigen tests directly through their schools, and a list of COVID-19 testing locations in Santa Cruz County is available from the Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency. For more on these changes, please see the letter sent to Santa Cruz County families earlier this week.
Yours in education and equity,
Dr. Faris Sabbah
County Superintendent of Schools
