The COE kicked off our mid-year graduation ceremonies Wednesday for students attending alternative education schools in the North County. Students from Oasis High, Star Community School, Highlands Community School, Seabright High and the Cottage received their diplomas and celebrated with teachers, family and friends Wednesday at the Portuguese Hall in Santa Cruz. Speakers included Yvette Brooks, Vice Mayor of Capitola and Executive Director of nonprofit Your Future is Our Business; Sue Roth, President of the Santa Cruz County Board of Education; and John Rice, Executive Director of Alternative Education Programs at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education.
Mid-year graduations continue Friday at Sequoia Schools in Watsonville.
