Highlighting the contributions of notable women in Santa Cruz County’s, past, present, and future, the Santa Cruz County Office of Education (Santa Cruz COE), in partnership with the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH) and Lookout Santa Cruz is excited to announce the HERStory Celebration.
Held in celebration of Women’s History Month, the event will take place Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Santa Cruz MAH in downtown Santa Cruz.
HERStory aims to create an engaging atmosphere that fosters learning, empowerment, and community involvement. The event will feature a series of inspiring speeches, an interactive HerStory game session, a variety of women-focused organizations, and a collaborative art project. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the stories and successes of women who have significantly shaped the Santa Cruz community.
“We are thrilled to bring this event to life and celebrate the remarkable women of Santa Cruz,” said Stephanie Sumarna, EdTech & Innovation Teacher on Special Assignment at the Santa Cruz COE and one of the event’s lead organizers. “Our goal is to honor their achievements, inspire future generations, and continue to build a strong, supportive community.”
The event will also include a digital collection of stories from the community, highlighting women who have made an impact on individuals’ lives. These stories will be displayed at the event and will contribute to the ongoing documentation of our community’s rich history as a part of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History’s archival collections. Stories may be contributed, and viewed, throughout the month at sccoe.link/shareyourstory.
