Join Us for the Credential Pathway Information Sessions

The Santa Cruz County Office of Education is thrilled to announce the second year of the California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program and is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 academic year. Whether you’re completing your Bachelor’s degree or starting your credential program, we invite you to join one of our information sessions to learn more about our Scholarship Program and how to become a teacher.

Information Sessions:

July 8, 3:30-4:30 PM (Via ZOOM) – San Jose State University

Distinguished guests from the Connie L. Lurie College of Education will present and answer questions about the various programs offered at SJSU.

Dr. Erika Saito, Director of Strategic Partnerships, PK-14 Education, will present and answer questions on the admissions process at UMass Global.

You can receive up to $4368 in scholarship funds through our Santa Cruz Classified Employee Grant (SCCEG) program. This program is designed to address the state’s teacher shortage by supporting local education agencies (LEAs) in Santa Cruz County. It helps recruit classified school employees into teaching careers and supports their undergraduate education, professional teacher preparation, and certification as credentialed California teachers.

Office Hours

We also offer office hours every Wednesday from 4-5 PM to answer any questions you may have about the program, the application process, or eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

  • Verify your classified employment with a county district.
  • Hold an AA equivalence or higher degree.
  • Pass a fingerprint/background check.

Santa Cruz COE has a partnership agreement approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), allowing you to enroll in programs to complete your BA or enroll in your educator preparation program at the following institutions:
