The Santa Cruz County Office of Education (Santa Cruz COE), in partnership with the Technology Team at Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD), is excited to announce the return of the Computer Science Playground Community Nights for their third year! These free, family-friendly events bring together innovative hands-on activities and engaging experiences designed to spark curiosity and inspire learners of all ages.
“Our goal is to ignite a passion for computer science and empower learners to see how technology can transform their futures,” said Dr. Faris Sabbah, Santa Cruz County Superintendent of Schools. “Whether it’s a kindergartener experimenting with coding toys or a guardian learning alongside their child, the Playground events bring computer science to life in meaningful ways.”

What to Expect
Discover the world of computer science through interactive stations and live demonstrations.
This year’s activities include:
- Drone Arena: Pilot drones through obstacle courses or enjoy high-tech demonstrations.
- Binary Bracelets: Code your namein binary and turn it into a personalized bracelet.
- AI or Real?: Test your skills in spotting AI-generated faces.
- Dash Bots: Program robots to race, dance, and complete challenges.
- Computer De/Reconstruction: Take apart and rebuild a desktop computer to learn how it works.
- Land Rovers: Explore robotics in action with remote-controlled vehicles.
These activities and more are designed to make computer science fun and accessible for learners of all ages.
