Dear community member,
Graduation season is upon us, a joyous time that reflects the heart of our mission in public education. This week, I’ve had the privilege of speaking at more than a dozen commencement ceremonies for Santa Cruz COE programs across our county, from alternative and special education schools to those serving adult learners.
Each ceremony is filled with powerful stories of perseverance, transformation, and hope. The Class of 2025 began high school in a time of global upheaval and now steps forward into a world that urgently needs their brilliance, compassion, and integrity.
As we celebrate our students’ success, we also extend heartfelt gratitude to the educators, support staff, and families whose guidance and encouragement have made these moments possible.
To our graduates: We are deeply proud of you. You’ve pursued your goals with focus and determination. You’ve met adversity with courage, and you’ve risen above doubt with heart and resilience.
Know that you carry our hope and pride with you. Know that you have earned this. And know that we are inspired by all that you have accomplished—and all that you have yet to achieve.
Yours in education and equity,
Dr. Faris Sabbah
County Superintendent of Schools
