Dear community member,
The end of the school year is always a moment of closing one chapter, and opening a new one. This is especially true for our graduates, whether they are matriculating into high school, or heading off to college, trade school, or career.
Commencement ceremonies are already underway, and it has been an absolute pleasure to attend graduations of the Santa Cruz COE’s alternative, adult and special education programs throughout this week. Most of our comprehensive high schools across the county are celebrating their commencements next week, so there is plenty of celebration still to come.
To our graduates, please know that wherever your journey takes you next, you are ready, and you belong.
Our society faces significant challenges such as racism, climate change, and poverty. We are counting on your creativity, ingenuity, and dedication to address these issues and create a world where everyone feels safe and included. Whether through advocacy, innovation, education, or everyday actions, you have the power to make a difference.
Congratulations, Class of 2023!
Yours in education and equity,
Dr. Faris Sabbah
County Superintendent of Schools
