We have two amazing poetry opportunities for students this year.
We have POETRY OUT LOUD, where students participate in a classroom, school, or poetry club to memorize and recite a poem from an anthology of poetry. The Poetry Out Loud event will be held on Tuesday, February 13 at Bookshop Santa Cruz from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. For more information, please explore the Poetry Out Loud website.
Additionally, this year, we have the SANTA CRUZ COUNTY YOUTH POET LAUREATE event where students submit their own original poetry to a panel of poets including our own Poet Laureate Farnaz Fatemi who will select this year’s Youth Poet Laureate. This event will take place on Wednesday, April 10 from 6:00-8:00 at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in downtown Santa Cruz.
