The Santa Cruz County Office of Education is pleased to announce the return of the School Board Academy for Students this summer! This 4-week program is designed for students who serve as student trustees, will soon serve as student trustees, or simply want to learn more about school governance and student advocacy while building valuable leadership skills. The academy is open to all Santa Cruz County students in grades 7-11.
Topics covered include:
- Understanding the School Board
- Brown Act & Roberts Rule of Order/Procedure
- Public Speaking & Ethics
- Budget: How Money Is Spent & School Board Jurisdiction 101
Students will also have the opportunity to present to the Santa Cruz County Office of Education at its July 20 meeting.
Thanks to the generous support of Bank of America, all students who complete the course will receive an iPad.
