Nurturing Educators: A Transformative Journey in Strengthening Social-Emotional Skills for Effective Teaching and Leading

Twenty educators from across the country participated in an eight-week course to strengthen their social-emotional skills to deepen connections to self and others and expand the strategies needed to teach and lead effectively, with purpose and joy.

The Community of Practice was facilitated by COE staff Suzanne Denham and Robyn McKeen, along with award-winning Social Emotional Learning expert and author Dr. Lorea Martínez. During the eight weeks, educators learned, discussed, and practiced using new tools and strategies to navigate daily challenges and interactions based on Dr. Martínez’s “Growing Your HEART Skills” course. Many of the participants will be sharing their learning and applications to their professional contexts with colleagues in the next couple of months.
