Dear community member,
I am pleased to share the Santa Cruz County Office of Education’s 2023-24 Annual Report to the Community, a reflection on a year of remarkable collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity across our school community.
Throughout the 2023-24 school year, we worked closely with school districts, families, and partners to foster a sense of belonging for students of all identities—guided by our commitment to creating safe, inclusive spaces where every learner can thrive.
From advancing school safety through the Standard Command Response for Schools, to launching the ed.PATH initiative to support educator career pathways, to celebrating ingenuity and innovation with the inaugural STEAM Expo, this report highlights strides made in partnership with schools, families, and community organizations.
The full report offers an in-depth look at these achievements and more, underscoring the collective impact of our efforts. None of this progress would be possible without the dedication of our educators, the passion of our students, and the steadfast support of families and partners.
To our incredible team at the COE and everyone who contributes to this shared mission—thank you for your unwavering commitment to advancing equity and opportunity for every learner in Santa Cruz County.
Yours in education and equity,
Dr. Faris Sabbah
County Superintendent of Schools
