Recognition and Resources

Dear community member,

I hope you are staying cool amid the heatwave impacting our region. Prolonged exposure to this kind of hot weather poses risks to many, including student athletes. Please see the resources shared in the newsletter linked below for guidance on how to safely conduct sports and other strenuous activities during extreme heat.

Next week is recognized across our state as the Week of the School Administrator. School administrators are your principals, assistant principals, superintendents, and other key roles on our district admin teams who work to lead our school community forward.

Administrators wear many hats. They are leaders, listeners, advocates, and a driving force for innovation and excellence in our schools. Their work resonates in every educational space, fostering a supportive, sustainable, and safe learning environment in which all students have the opportunity to thrive.

Thank you, administrators, for your enduring commitment and impactful service to our schools.

I also want to highlight October as LGBTQ+ History Month. The COE has curated a number of standards-aligned lesson plans and other resources for educators. We will be sharing a selection of these resources in this week’s newsletter, and elsewhere, throughout the month.

Yours in education and equity,
Dr. Faris Sabbah
County Superintendent of Schools
