Special Education Update – July 2022

The Special Education Department wrapped up another successful Extended School Year on July 12th.

We have solidified our Staff Development agenda and will be hosting three days of trainings on August 3rd, 4th and 5th before the school year begins. We have utilized some of our Educator Effectiveness Funds to pay for trainers to come and train our teachers and related service providers on a new tool made especially for students with moderate to severe disabilities. We are hopeful the use of the Student Annual Needs Determination Inventory (SANDI) throughout our programs will help our students become as independent as possible when they age out of our system at twenty-two years of age.

The Chrysalis Program will again have two preschool classrooms while maintaining three elementary classrooms, a middle school and a high school program.
