Santa Cruz County’s superintendents jointly released a letter to families today summarizing expanded surveillance testing efforts and a new statewide vaccination verification policy for all school staff.
The policy, announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday, requires all school staff to verify they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly testing. It must be fully implemented by Oct. 15.
“The requirement for all education staff to be fully vaccinated or tested weekly, announced yesterday by Governor Newsom, is another critical step that aligns with science, and public health recommendations, to create the safest environment possible as we welcome students back to school,” the superintendents stated in the letter.
