Dear community member,
As we head into summer, I want to take a moment to thank our students, families, educators, staff, and community partners for all you have done to support learning and student well-being throughout this school year.
Over the past two weeks, we have had the privilege of celebrating graduates across Santa Cruz County, and I continue to be inspired by the accomplishments and promise of our students.
While many students, families, and educators enjoy a well-deserved break, our work continues throughout the summer here at the Santa Cruz COE. We are hosting teacher institutes and trainings in the arts, environmental literacy, math, educational technology, and more, along with student and family academies and extended school year services.
I’m especially excited about several new and growing opportunities this summer, including a new Family Leadership Academy launching in partnership with Cradle to Career, an all-new AI App Academy for high school students (today is the last day to register), the new Resilient Youth for Success in Education (RYSE) Summer Program, and the return of our Student Trustee Academy — which received more applicants than ever this year.
This newsletter will be on hiatus for much of the summer, and we look forward to welcoming you back to school in August. In the meantime, there are many ways for students and families to stay connected, supported, and engaged this summer. Along with the many opportunities from your school district, be sure to check out:
