Santa Cruz County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Faris Sabbah invites high school students from across the county to apply for the 2025-26 Superintendent’s Student Advocacy Council. The goal of the council is to ensure that youth voices are uplifted and included in the critical conversations and decisions that directly affect their educational experience.
The Student Advocacy Council is an ideal opportunity for passionate, driven, and civic-minded students to work directly with the County Superintendent, as well as a diverse group of peers, on issues that mean the most to them, their campuses, and communities.
The Council will meet monthly in a hybrid format to discuss topics such as educational equity, the quality of public education, student wellbeing and other key issues that affect youth throughout our county. Through this process, students will be able to hone their communication and public speaking skills, expand their networks, and gain hands-on experience with advocacy under the mentorship of Superintendent Sabbah and members of the Santa Cruz County County Board of Education.
The Santa Cruz County Office of Education is accepting applications through Friday, September 26, 2025. All students grades 9-12 enrolled in any high school within Santa Cruz County are eligible to apply.
Apply now and help shape the policies and programs that directly affect you and your peers!
