Monday, October 27 | 3:30 – 5:00 PM | Virtual
Educators and community members are invited to join a thoughtful conversation hosted by the Greater Good Science Center on how emotional intelligence shapes who we become—especially in challenging times.
This community event features Aakash Chowkase, Ph.D., Associate Research Scientist at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, whose work explores how schools can foster emotional intelligence and character education on a large scale.
Together, we’ll explore:
- What emotional intelligence truly means and why it matters for students, educators, and families
- How emotional intelligence supports character development, integrity, and empathy
- The role of character in addressing pressing global issues like climate change, racism, and polarization
- Practical ways educators can integrate emotional intelligence into daily teaching to nurture both academic and personal growth
In times of uncertainty and division, emotional intelligence and character remind us of the profound impact educators have in shaping not only minds but hearts. This event offers an opportunity to connect, reflect, and gain new strategies for helping students grow into compassionate and resilient learners.
