The Santa Cruz County Office of Education has formed a consortium with 6 of our county districts to offer a scholarship funded by the California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program (Classified Program) to classified employees who are currently working in our local school districts or the COE, and who would like to pursue a career as a teacher. Our Santa Cruz Classified Employee Grant (SCCEG) program addresses the state’s teacher shortage in STEM, special education, bilingual education, and transitional kindergarten, by supporting Santa Cruz county local education agencies (LEAs) to recruit classified school employees into teaching careers and support their undergraduate education, professional teacher preparation, and certification as credentialed California teachers.
The scholarship grant provides up to $4,368 per year to cover the costs of tuition and books for the duration of the grant period until June 2026. Eligible with an AA or higher degree and have passed a criminal background check through your district.
Please note, if you are currently exploring colleges or universities (IHE), we cannot guarantee the scholarship until CTC approves the IHE partnership.
