Veronica Ramirez: 40 Years of Dedication to Student Success

When Veronica was a young adult she had two passions for her career: She wanted to work with at-promise youth and youth impacted by the Juvenile Justice system. It is no surprise that Veronica found her calling at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education. Veronica started her career with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education as an Instructional Aide for Alternative Education in 1982. In 1996, Veronica switched to Special Education and was promoted to Senior Instructional Aide in 1999. In 2010, Veronica came back to Alternative Education and has been with the department ever since. Veronica has worked for five different superintendents!

So many Alternative Education colleagues have had the opportunity to work with Veronica and witness her passion to support our students. Veronica’s colleagues describe her as extremely conscientious, genuinely connected to student success, engaging and warm while also holding people accountable, and understanding of the importance of student-staff relationships.

Veronica goes above and beyond for her students and colleagues and the Alternative Education programs have greatly benefitted from her commitment, experience, and her huge heart.

Congratulations on 40 years with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education!
