Waves of Change: The Santa Cruz Robotics Club’s Underwater ROV Adventure

Our county-wide Robotics Clubs have taken the next step on their engineering journey! The design specifications for the MATE ROV Competition have been released, and our club members have dived into the details!

This year, we’ll have two teams competing, a Ranger and a Navigator. Each of them will be working on building their underwater ROVs, conforming to the MATE-ROV design specifications. So far, this year has found our members designing, engineering, soldering, and using Fusion360 computer-aided design, engineering, and printed circuit board software. They’re working with industry mentors and doing real-world projects that will have a lasting impact on their college and career journeys. We honor our partners and facilitators at the X Academy, and their amazing team of mentor volunteers, who are motivating and encouraging these young people to use their passion and creativity in this collaborative effort.
