During the months of October and November, the Career and Adult Learning Services (CALS) Division continued to build momentum across the department with several accomplishments.
The new CALS quarterly newsletter was released and added the COE website. This newsletter provided a full update to all programs within CALS.
In addition, we are excited to announce that all adult programs have an new online presence with their own individual websites to help promote our programs, provide general information and celebrate student work.
The Building Trades program successfully graduated all student participants during the Fall program. This is the second consecutive cohort that has a 100% completion rate. Students in the Fall cohort also participated in the non-credit Career Skills Certificate pilot program in collaboration with Cabrillo college.
In addition, the CALS team recently hosted Watsonville High Academy students. This event provided students the opportunity to meet our course instructors in both the MA and DA fields, take a tour of the facility, and ask questions.
Our team also presented at the the Career and College Fair at both Pajaro Valley High School and Coastanoa. We are continually looking to providing as many outreach opportunities to our high school and adult community.
The CALS team hosted our October professional learning opportunity for instructors that focused on portfolios. Elizabeth Shaw, the instructor for the ICT Pathway, shared student portfolios from her class. The COE managers also were able to enjoy the expertise of our CTE Culinary students, led by Vrinda Quintero with a a fully catered student lunch at the monthly meeting.
