This year, our Fire Technology program has experienced remarkable growth — expanding from two to four sections due to strong student interest in this vital career path. With classes now offered in both North and South County, more students can access high-quality instruction and practical experience that sets them on the path to serving their communities as first responders.
🍳 Culinary Arts: Expanding Access Through Innovation
Our Culinary Arts program continues to thrive and evolve. This year, we launched a new adult course at the Blaine Street Women’s Facility, in collaboration with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. This innovative partnership broadens access to career-oriented learning and equips participants with valuable culinary and workforce skills that support future success.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) pathway is expanding with a new course section offered through our ICT Innovation Lab, in collaboration with Costanoa High School and Santa Cruz City Schools. This exciting addition provides students with opportunities to gain in-demand technology and communication skills, preparing them to thrive in today’s digital economy.
🩺 Dual Enrollment: Advancing Health Career Pathways
In partnership with Cabrillo College, the CALS CTE team, San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District, and Scotts Valley Unified School District, we are introducing a new Dual Enrollment Medical Terminology course. Through this semester-long class, students can earn college credit for Cabrillo College’s MA 70 course while exploring future opportunities in the health sciences field.
