Inauguration of the Plaza Comunitaria Program

In partnership with the Watsonville Public Library and Consulado de Mexico en San Jose, the Santa Cruz COE developed the Plaza Comunitaria program. This program assists Spanish-speaking immigrants in our community in developing their literacy in Spanish, so they can obtain their General Education Developement (GED) and move on to College and expanded career options.

This one-of-a-kind free program, known as “Plaza Comunitaria – Casa INEA,” will allow Mexican youth and adults, over 15 years of age,  to start or finish their elementary and secondary schooling in their native language.

Casa INEA offers elementary and secondary reading, computer, and math instruction. Classes are scheduled to start at the beginning of the school year at the Main Library’s Literacy Center and Sequoia High School.

The service is free. For more information please call (831) 750-5053
