Sequoia Independent Studies Overview
Sequoia Independent Studies offers a supportive environment for self-directed learners who choose to complete High School credits on their own, under the guidance of a compassionate teacher. Students meet weekly with their teacher, and complete a minimum of 20 hours of homework each week. Independent Studies is most helpful for students who have major responsibilities outside of school, such as working a full-time job, being a parent, or being a caregiver. Students who are easily distracted by social interactions in a classroom may find that they focus better on Independent Studies. Other students chose Independent Studies due to health and mental health challenges. Besides meeting weekly with their teacher, Sequoia Independent Studies students can receive support from the Sequoia counseling team and the Sequoia work and college specialist.
